Joseph Christian L. Panganiban is a distinguished Filipino bassoonist, multi‑woodwind performer, and music educator whose career spans orchestral performance, musical theatre, international collaborations, and academic leadership. A graduate of the University of Santo Tomas Conservatory of Music, he later earned his Master’s Degree at the Elisabeth University of Music in Hiroshima, Japan as a recipient of the Association of Catholic Universities in Japan Grant.
A decorated musician from a young age, Joseph is a First Prize Winner of the 2003 National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) Category B, a Third Prize Winner in 2008 (Category C), and a Benavides Outstanding Student Awardee of UST. He was also featured as a soloist with the UST Symphony Orchestra in 2012.
Joseph’s professional career includes extensive orchestral work, serving as Principal Bassoon of the ABS‑CBN Philharmonic Orchestra (2018–2020) and previously as Assistant Principal. He has also performed with the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, Metro Manila Community Orchestra, Philippine Pops Orchestra, and the Orchestra of Filipino Youth. His versatility as a woodwind artist—covering bassoon, saxophone, clarinet, flute, oboe, and English horn—has made him a sought‑after musician in major Broadway‑style productions such as Shrek the Musical, La Cage Aux Folles, Fun Home, A Christmas Carol, Musikal nAPO, Beautiful, Sweeney Todd (Manila and Singapore), Miss Saigon (Manila), Into the Woods, and A Chorus Line.
Beyond performance, Joseph is a dedicated educator and currently serves as Associate Professor II at the CEU Conservatory of Music. He has taught at institutions such as Adventist University of the Philippines, Sta. Isabel College, and the Filipino Music Art Collective, and continues to mentor young musicians as a conductor of the Funkybeat Orchestra and long‑time music director of Banda Kabataan 77.
